Thank you for sharing this. I lost my vision in one of my eyes in December of 2008, and remember how much attitude made a difference in the recovery. At 32 years old, being diagnosed with a condition that normally only happens in patients 65 and older, the experience was very emotional. Yet, I learned so much from it that I don’t think I would go back and change it. I learned to listen, and most importantly to walk by faith.
There was one visit, in particular, that I remember. It was the visit when, after two successful treatments, I was told that I my vision had gotten worse again. I was told that there was nothing that I could do to have caused or prevented it from happening. I remember how discouraging it was, and how I wondered if I would ever get my vision back again. At some point, before the next visit, I realized that being discouraged wasn’t going to do any good. What I needed was a dose of perception and faith. There was a lot of things that I could learn from the situation, and there was never nothing that I could do about a situation, as long as I believed. Fortunately, my vision did get better, and I can see now.
Last week, I was reminded again of just how much attitude makes a difference as I was told that there may be a tumor that was causing the vision loss. During the time between the eye appointment and the neurologist, I found myself having to constantly go back and check my attitude. Otherwise, I would find the fear consuming me. Thankfully, the neurologist doesn’t think there is anything to be concerned about. Still, it was a good reminder of how having a positive attitude can make a difference.
